You don’t need to wait for a brand new year or another month. Instead, you can set goals and start working toward them any day of the year, including a random Tuesday.

To get started, we need to talk about how you can begin setting goals that are aligned with your bigger picture and that you can feel good about. Here are a few tips:
1 – Choose Goals That Feel Right
The top priority in setting goals should always be to make sure you’re chasing something that feels good to you. Your goals should be in alignment with how you want to feel every day and what you’re hoping to accomplish in the long-run.
When your goals don’t light you up, you’ll be more likely to push them to the bottom of your to-do list. You’ll find tons of reasons to procrastinate on them. That’s why you want to focus your attention on the things that truly excite you. Don’t set a goal because it’s what everyone else is doing or because you think you’re supposed to work towards it.
2. Break Your Goals Into Smaller, Actionable Steps
Set yearly goals for yourself. From there, you can then break those goals down into smaller action plans that are much more manageable. They seem less intimidating this way. You can do this by creating a quarterly plan and a monthly plan that will help you get from where you are now to where you want to be.
The whole point of this is that it helps you to see the smaller steps that need to be taken in order for you to achieve those bigger goals. And it cuts down on any feelings of overwhelm. For example, if you have a goal to hit $100k in profits this year, that might seem kind of scary and impossible. But not if you break that goal down and plan out ways to make it happen!
Figure out what you need to do each week, month, or quarter to make your yearly goals a reality. And also, prioritize these things by scheduling time for them in your calendar.
3 – Set a Deadline
When it comes to setting goals, having a deadline is essential. If you don’t give a specific deadline to a task or goal, you’ll probably just put it off and push it to the bottom of your to-do list. And how can you expect it to get done then? You can’t!
That’s why you want to assign a realistic deadline to each of the goals you’ve set for this year. A realistic deadline provides ample time to achieve what you want, but isn’t so far out that you don’t feel motivation to work towards it.

Once you’re done with setting goals for the year ahead, you’ll want to give yourself a much-needed push to get started. Here are four things I feel are essential in making your goals happen:
We can all benefit from a little positive reinforcement, right? Well, you can reward yourself for hitting specific milestones on the way to reaching your bigger goals. This will help you stay motivated and serve as a reminder that you’re making progress, even when it doesn’t feel like it.
Keep Track of Your Progress
Have you ever set a goal for yourself and then completely forgotten about it? Well, I know I have! Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in everything else that’s going on and you overlook a goal that you had set back in the beginning of the year. To prevent this from happening, make time to check-in on your yearly goals and the progress you’ve made every so often.
This provides you with an opportunity to see if things are moving along steadily or if you need to pick up the pace. Overall, it’s a great way to ensure you’re staying on track and working toward the things that are most important to you.
Another great thing to do after setting goals for yourself is to find an accountability partner. Having someone you can talk about your goals with is great because you can share progress and even motivate and encourage each other every step of the way. For me, I’d hate to let my accountability partner down. So, having someone to check in with provides a much-needed push to get me to take action.
Release the Limiting Beliefs Standing in Your Way
And finally, achieving goals will be impossible if you’re standing in the way of your own success. How do you do that? By letting limiting beliefs get the best of you. It’s time to stop telling yourself that you aren’t good enough or worthy enough to achieve the success you want. When you reprogram your mindset and release the negative thoughts that hold you back, going after your goals just feels so much easier.
